KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) — A familiar face has resurfaced in local municipal leadership.
Former Plover Administrator Dan Mahoney has signed on as Interim Administrator in Kronenwetter on a three-month contract, though he’s made it clear that the move is by no means a lasting one. “I met with the Chief [Terry McHugh] and Village President [Chris Voll] and I just felt it would be to them. I appreciate the opportunity to help out [Kronenwetter] for a short period,” said Mahoney on Tuesday. “It’ll be three months that I’m helping out.”
His primary focus is providing temporary stability for a municipality that has been without permanent leadership for nearly a year. “[I’m here] to help with some of the day-to-day things and critical needs that they have. Basically so Village business can move forward.”
The most recent application period for the Administrator position ended earlier this week, and Mahoney said two resumes met the posted requirements. Those will move on to a committee for further consideration. They are also taking bids for consulting services to help find qualified candidates through a request for proposals process. The Administrative Process Committee got a look at that RFP on Tuesday.
“[Those consultants] can bring additional [candidates] to them for the interview process as well. It’s good to have that option available just in case they feel they want more candidates or if they aren’t comfortable with the candidates they have,” added Mahoney.
Mahoney’s deal will take the Village through the end of June. A total of three people have held the interim tag since the Village parted ways with Richard Downey in the Summer of 2022 including Police Chief Terry McHugh and Duane Gau.
Also on Tuesday the APC considered a one-time bonus for McHugh for taking on the interim duties while running the police department but took no action on the proposal. The Committee wanted to see the idea discussed in a closed session before taking any serious action on it.
