MADISON, WI (WSAU) — State Emergency Management officials have postponed the statewide tornado drill that was scheduled for Thursday.
Officials say they will not be testing the state’s severe weather warning infrastructure as planned to avoid any confusion that may occur in the event that real watches or warnings must be issued.
The drill is now scheduled for Friday. Should severe weather threaten again that day, it will be canceled altogether.
Local communities, schools, and businesses may still test their warning systems on Thursday on their own if they choose. Wednesday’s announcement only impacts the state’s systems, including NOAA radio tests.
