MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin men’s basketball team revealed on Thursday that Tennessee will visit the Kohl Center on November 10, 2023, for a non-conference matchup.
The two teams, the Badgers and Volunteers, agreed to a home-and-home series back in 2019. In the 2019–20 season, UW visited Knoxville and won 68–48 at Thompson-Boling Arena. As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020–21, Wisconsin was unable to host Tennessee as originally planned the following season.
“We’re looking forward to resuming this home-and-home series with Tennessee,” Coach Gard said. “Early-season, marquee matchups like this are something that college basketball needs, and we are always looking to be part of games like this. On top of that, being able to host games like this and bring quality competition to the Kohl Center in front of Badger fans is always a goal.”
This will be the sixth time the two programs have met. Tennessee won the first two meetings in 1981 and 2000, but UW has won three consecutive games in the rivalry since then. The Volunteers will be making their second trip to the Kohl Center, having previously played in Madison in 2001, which UW won 65-62.
