NEW YORK, NY (WSAU) — By this time next week we should have the 2023 Green Bay Packers preseason and regular season schedule in hand.
After the completion of the first-year player draft in Kansas City last weekend it was reported that the league has tentatively set Thursday, May 11th as its schedule release day.
We already know which opponents the Packers will play, we just don’t know when and in what order. In addition to the double-round robin against their three NFC North foes, Green Bay will play all four NFC South clubs; New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and Carolina. they’ll also play all four AFC West teams (LA Chargers, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Denver) and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Once again the Week 18 schedule will feature all inter-division matchups. Though this year’s schedule will look different in many ways, including more Monday night doubleheaders and more games on ABC. ESPN will also have flexible scheduling options during the later portion of the schedule, meaning some games could move from Sunday afternoon to Monday night on short notice. The league will also schedule a Black Friday game for the first time on the day after Thanksgiving, which will be streamed by Amazon Prime as part of its Thursday Night Football package.
The 2023 slate will be the first year of the league’s new multi-billion dollar TV agreements with CBS, FOX, NBC, Amazon, and ESPN/ABC. Super Bowl LVIII (that’s 58 for those of you that are Roman-numerically challenged) will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV and will be broadcast by CBS.
The NFL’s 272-game regular season will also feature international games in London and Germany. The process of creating the schedule begins during Super Bowl week when the league holds meetings with its TV partners to discuss which games they would like to see in prime time.
