WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department and Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating yesterday’s plane crash just outside of Wisconsin Rapids.
WAOW TV reports that the plane was home-built and registered to be stored at Alexander Field in Wisconsin Rapids, just 1.5 miles from where it flipped in the Town of Grand Rapids on Thursday.
Witnesses reported that the plane was taxing down Whitrock Avenue before it flipped upside down near Grace Lutheran Church. Two people were taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries.
The crash happened at about 11:15 AM. Crews had removed the plane by 6:00 PM.
