MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – First baseman/outfielder Darin Ruf has been signed by the Brewers to a one-year deal, the team announced.
For Ruf to be added to the active roster, first baseman Luke Voit was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained neck, and right-hander Brandon Woodruff was moved from the 40-man roster to the 60-day injured list.

Ruf played for the Woodchucks during the 2007 season and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 20th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.
Last season, Ruf spent time with both the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants and has a .240 career batting average with 67 career home runs.
The Brewers are hoping that Ruf will provide some serious offensive help at the position, as Luke Voit is only hitting .221 so far this season with no home runs.
