ST LOUIS, MO (WSAU-MetroSource) – The Cardinals crushed the Brewers 18-1 in their series opener from St. Louis.
Nolan Gorman slugged a three-run homer and drove in five runs while Andrew Knizner blasted a pinch-hit grand slam. Nolan Arenado also went deep and had four RBI.
Jack Flaherty pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters to earn the win. St. Louis has won four straight games and is still last in the NL Central with a 17-and-25 record.
Jesse Winker drove in the lone run for Milwaukee, which fell to 23-and-18. The Brewers are still first in the NL Central.
Game two of the three-game series continues tonight. Wade Miley gets the start opposite Jordan Montgomery. Game coverage begins at 6:10pm CT on WSAU.
