ST LOUIS, MO (WSAU-MetroSource) – The Brewers’ bullpen stepped up big in a 3-2 win against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
Starter Wade Miley surrendered a run in the first inning and left the game in the second with a muscle strain. Five arms were used out of the pen and combined to give up just one more run on six hits. Joel Payamps was credited with the win while Brian Anderson and Joey Wiemer each crushed homers to pace the offense.
Milwaukee improved to 24-and-18 and is first in the NL Central.
Nolan Arenado homered in his fourth straight game for St. Louis, which fell to 17-and-26. The Cards are last in the division.
The Brew Crew will try to win the series tonight. Corbin Burnes gets the start opposite Adam Wainwright. Game coverage at 6:10pm CT on WSAU.
