WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – In a poll issued on Thursday, two-thirds of Americans believe that President Joe Biden winning a second term as president would be bad for the nation.
According to a CNN poll, 66% of Americans felt a Biden victory would be a “disaster” or a “setback.” For former President Donald Trump, 56% of respondents agreed.
Just 35% of respondents rated Biden favorably, which is down from 40% at the beginning of this year.
The poll also found that only 60% of Democrats said that Biden would be their top choice in the primary, the president is up against stiff competition in the race for the Democratic presidential nominee.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a lawyer, and son of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy Sr is running for president on the Democratic side and is in second place with 20% of the vote. Marianne Williamson, a writer, finishes in third place with 8%. According to the survey, a similar amount of respondents would choose someone who is not Biden, Kennedy, or Williamson. In response, 5% said they had “no opinion.”
The CNN poll was conducted online and over the phone from May 17–20. There were 1,227 participants in the sample, with a 3.7% +/- sampling error.
