MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The state Department of Health Services reported more than one million people have been tested for COVID-19 in Wisconsin.
On Wednesday, the state said 1,001,924 people were tested for the virus since the pandemic began, an increase of 17,023 tests from Tuesday.
Officials reported 884 new cases, an increase from 728 new cases Tuesday.
Wednesday’s 5.2% positive rate was above Tuesday’s 4%
Officials reported 16,139 negative test results Wednesday, an decrease from 17,410 negative test results Tuesday.
An additional 9 people have died from COVID-19, the DHS reported, with the total now at 970.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 1,001,924 people have been tested, with 56,940 positive cases and 944,984 negative test results.
The DHS considers 45,368 patients to have recovered from the new coronavirus with the number of active COVID-19 cases on Wednesday at 9,709 according to the DHS.
The DHS says Wisconsin hospitals are reporting that 2,379 beds are immediately available out of the 11,553 total beds.
There are 258 total COVID-19 patients seeking care with 96 in the ICU, 15 less ICU patients than what was reported Tuesday.
There are 116 hospital patients are still waiting for COVID-19 test results.
The state has a supply of 1,995 ventilators with 338 in use.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
