Republican leaders and Democratic Governor Tony Evers have reportedly reached a deal on a shared revenue bill.
According to WisPolitics, the deal would drop a requirement for Milwaukee County and the city to hold referendums to approve new sales taxes. Instead, the County Board and Common Council would have to approve the taxes with two-thirds votes.
The deal would also allow the county to add 0.4 percent to its existing sales tax, slightly more than the original bill passed by the Assembly last month. That bill also set a minimum increase of 15 percent in shared revenue for most counties and municipalities. The new deal reportedly increases that to 20 percent.
