GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin decided on Friday that he would not seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in 2024 against Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin.
Baldwin, who won by 11 points in 2018, is seeking a third term and Gallagher was the most prominent Republican rumored to be considering a challenge.

Other candidates rumored to be considering running for the seat include Wisconsin’s 7th congressional Rep. Tom Tiffany and Wisconsin’s 1st congressional Rep. Bryan Steil but neither have formally entered the race at this time.
Businessman Eric Hovde of Madison, who lost the Republican primary for the Senate in 2018, businessman Scott Mayer of Franklin, and ex-Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke are also among possible candidates who are thinking about running for the Senate, according to the Associated Press.
