CASSVILLE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a crash in Cassville left a man dead and a woman in custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, the collision occurred at the crossroads of Highway 81 and Settlement Road on Thursday at about 1:00 p.m., according to the sheriff’s.
The sheriff’s office announced that a Cassville woman, 33, was traveling south on Settlement Road when she failed to stop entirely at a stop sign and drove out in front of a Cassville man, 52, who was traveling east on Highway 81.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident, and field sobriety tests revealed that she was impaired by an intoxicant.
She was arrested for homicide by impaired driving and is being held without bond at the Grant County Jail.
Highway 81 was stopped for around five hours Thursday while emergency workers responded to the scene.
