MADISON, WI (WSAU) — An Appleton man has been given a 15-year federal prison sentence for enticing and coercing a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct.
Wang Lo was sentenced on Wednesday in US District Court after investigators found he had met a 13-year-old Marathon County girl on Snapchat in June of 2022. After meeting her, he drove to her home and touched her inappropriately. He then assaulted her while taking photos of the incident on his phone.
After the girl filed a report police were able to track Lo and found photos matching her description of the incident on his phone. They also found messages between her and Lo in which he threatened to distribute the videos if she didn’t engage in sexual relations with him again.
Judge James Peterson called the defendant’s conduct shocking and outrageous and noted that while the defendant was technically a first-time offender, he had been engaged in similar conduct for almost three years. He stated the 15-year sentence was warranted to protect the public because Lo was a repeat and dangerous sex offender.
Investigators say they also found evidence on his phone that indicated he may have assaulted another 13-year-old girl as well.
The 24-year-old had been facing state charges in Marathon County for the incident, but those were dismissed by the prosecution after federal charges were filed.
