Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Wade Miley and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cleveland Guardians in game one of the series on Friday night thanks to a big night from Willy Adames.
In the first inning, the Brewers went ahead 1-0 after Willy Adames got a base hit to bring home William Contreras after he had doubled.
The Brewers offense, which had trouble scoring runs against Guardians starter Shane Bieber through the first five innings, would get the crucial hit from Adames in a decisive sixth inning.
A hanging slider from Bieber was hit by Adames out to left field for a three-run home run to put Milwaukee up 4-0 after Contreras singled and Rowdy Tellez doubled to start the sixth inning.
The explosive surge provided starter Wade Miley with plenty of run support. In his only second game since coming off the injured list, the left-hander displayed good form. Over six scoreless innings, Miley allowed three hits while striking out three.
On Saturday afternoon, the Brewers will try to take the series. Guardians Tanner Bibee will face off against Freddy Peralta and the first pitch will be at 3:10 PM on WSAU.
