WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police have released the name of the 55-year-old woman who died in a drowning incident near Whitewater Park.
Tammy Miller was pulled from the water shortly after 5 PM Tuesday after officers responded for a water rescue. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but unsuccessful.
Investigators believe Miller was swimming in the water before her death. Alcohol may have played a factor in the incident as well.
Officers say Miller’s family has been notified. A formal autopsy to determine her exact cause of death has been scheduled.
A second person was rescued from the water in Tuesday’s incident, but they were treated on the scene and did not require hospitalization. Their name was not released.
