MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A civil lawsuit against former president Donald Trump’s fake electors is moving forward in the state.
A Wisconsin judge on Thursday allowed the suit to proceed.
Last month, the attorney general of Michigan filed felony charges on a group of Republicans who acted as fake electors. They’re accused of submitting false certificates confirming they were legitimate electors who sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Federal prosecutors claim the fake elector scheme, which is at the center of the federal indictment filed against Trump earlier this month, originated in Wisconsin.
The state’s Attorney General, Josh Kaul, has stated he’s relying on federal investigators to look into what happened in Wisconsin, though a state probe is possible.
