WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – The Department of Justice has announced that the woman who attempted to kill former President Trump in 2020 has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
According to the Daily Caller, Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, a dual citizen of Canada and France, had mailed letters that contained graphic threats and ricin to former President Trump and several Texas law enforcement officials. Back in September 2020, Ferrier was arrested by border patrol agents when she attempted to cross into the U.S. through Canada with a vehicle containing weapons and ammunition.
“I consider myself to be an activist, not a terrorist,” Ferrier said at her sentencing, according to CNN. “Activists are constructive, terrorists are destructive. The only regret I have is that it didn’t work and that I couldn’t stop Trump.”
Ferrier originally pleaded guilty to violating bioweapons prohibitions in Washington, D.C., and Texas on January 25, 2023, according to the AP. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich sentenced Ferrier to 262 months in prison and an additional lifetime sentence of supervised release. Judge Friedrich also issued an order to have Ferrier permanently deported from the United States.
