Wausau, WI (WSAU)- The Milwaukee Brewers were able to keep their winning streak alive in game 2 of their series against the Texas Rangers, defeating them 6-1.
The starting pitcher for Milwaukee, Freddy Peralta had 5 consecutive strikeouts within the first 2 innings. He then threw 40 pitches during the 3rd, allowing a run on two singles, and two walks. With loaded bases, he caused Adolis Garcia to foul out, holding on to the 2-1 lead.
Carlos Santana homered for the 2nd consecutive day and 4th time in the past 6 games. His two-out homer occurred in the 1st inning, giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead.
Willy Adames went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, which earned Milwaukee their victorious win. He led off the 6th inning with a homer, making the score 3-1. This caused the start of a downward spiral for the Rangers Pitcher Dane Dunning. Dunning pitched 99, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, and also a walk. He struck out 4 Brewers.
Texas then put Martin Perez on the mound, which did not stop Milwaukee’s momentum. The Brewers had a double and RBI single by Andruw Monasterio, increasing the score to 4-1. Carlos Santana was back at the plate, and added an RBI double as well. Perez allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks over 4 innings.
Willie Adames had his 2nd 4-hit game of the season, while the rest of the Brewers had 15 hits, including 5 players with 2 or more.
The Texas Rangers batters stuck out 18 times, earning them their 3rd consecutive loss as well as their season high of strikeouts.
Milwaukee is leading the NL Central with 67-57 games.
