WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – On Friday afternoon, a 25-year-old Portage County man died at Aspirus Riverview Hospital after a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to a news statement from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, around 1:25 p.m., WRPD got a call to respond to the hospital to help Portage County deputies in their search for a missing individual.
He was last seen at Riverview Hospital, according to the police. A male resembling the missing man was spotted entering the hospital and using the restroom close to the emergency department after hospital security footage was reviewed, according to the release.
It was discovered after observing that the man never exited the restroom and that nobody else used it. The Portage County Sheriff’s Department discovered him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after opening the door, according to the release.
Police believe no foul play was involved at this time.
