STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Stevens Point man has been sentenced to 50 years in the state prison system for stabbing a woman and her child in their home during an invasion.
Elier Bravo will serve 30 years in prison and another 20 years on extended supervision for two counts of attempted first-degree homicide.
The charges came after an incident at a Stevens Point home last December where Bravo stabbed a 32-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter. The woman said she woke up to find him standing over her with a knife and tried to fight him off but was stabbed several times.
Doorbell camera footage from the night of the incident showed Bravo leaving the home with blood on his clothing.
Bravo pled guilty to the charge as part of a plea deal last spring. In exchange for the plea, several lesser charges were dismissed but read into the record for consideration at sentencing including mayhem and aggravated battery.
According to the victim she had suspicions that someone was entering the home while she and her daughter were away for several weeks.
Other details of Wednesday’s sentence include restitution, a no-contact order with the victims, and the completion of all treatment or counseling.
The hearing included three victim impact statements.
