MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — At the Capitol, the state Assembly votes Thursday on a fast-tracked redistricting bill.
The measure to adopt Iowa style redistricting was announced Tuesday by Republicans, including Todd Novak of Dodgeville.
“I don’t want you to think that we just started this yesterday,” said Novak. “We have been working on this, trying to talk to our colleagues for quite a while.”
Representative Travis Tranel of Cuba City is on the same page.
“I would hope that our Democrat colleagues, those same colleagues who told us that we need fair maps and that the Iowa model is the way to go, I’m hoping that they will support this as well and most importantly I hope that Governor Evers will sign it,” said Tranel.
The Democratic governor has stated disapproval of the bill, calling it “bogus.”
