The Wausau Public Health and Safety Committee will take stock of how the one-year trial plan for business block parties went this summer, with consideration for making the procedures a permanent part of the city’s ordinances.
The proposal was put in place this summer. Interested businesses were allowed to apply for street closures of up to five hours, excluding highways and other heavily traveled streets, as long as the party was done by 10 PM.
The business was responsible for setup and cleanup, and alcohol could not be served outdoors if the business was licensed to sell. Additionally, all music must be kept at a reasonable volume for the neighborhood.
The item is part of Monday’s regular agenda. Also up for consideration is a pair of changes to the city’s polling sites for what will be a busy 2024 election season
