WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A recent poll from USA Today/Suffolk University shows that not many Americans believe “Bidenomics” is working.
According to the poll, only 34% of Americans favor Biden’s handling of the economy, while 59% disagree, according to USA TODAY’s Joey Garrison and Maureen Groppe. The poll also found that seventy-six percent of independents and 34% of Democrats believe the economy is worsening.
Eighty-four percent of Americans say their cost of living is rising, with food and grocery costs being the top concern, according to the poll.
By a 47%–36% margin, more Americans trust Trump, the Republican primary frontrunner in 2024, than Biden to improve the economy. Among independent voters, Trump was favored 46% to 26%.
When it comes to issues outside of the economy, such as age, a recently completed Quinnipiac poll found that 68% of voters feel Biden is too old to serve another four-year term, while just 34% of respondents felt former President Trump is too old to serve another four-year term. When it comes to responding to a national crisis, 51% of voters told Quinnipiac that they trust Trump to respond properly, compared to 44% for President Biden.
These numbers coincide with the latest presidential general election polls, with Fox News currently having former President Trump leading Biden 48% to 46% and Harvard/Harris showing Trump leading Biden 44% to 40%. The latest numbers from YouGov/CBS also show Trump leading Biden by just one point overall; however, their data also shows former President Trump currently leading among independent voters by 15 percentage points.
