WESTON, WI (WSAU) — Multiple reports indicate that Everest Metro Police Chief Clay Schulz is facing accusations of sexual harassment.
Wausau Pilot and Review and the Wausau Daily Herald have reported that a formal complaint against Schulz was filed with the Everest Metro Police Commission, which oversees the department.
Details of the complaint have not been made public but officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway. Representatives of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association told the Pilot and Review that it does involve allegations of “wide rang[ing] improper conduct constituting sexual harassment.”
Some have called for Schulz to be placed on administrative leave. It’s unclear if or when that will happen. The Everest Metro Police Commission did meet last week, but the agenda was limited to conducting an interview for a vacant Captain’s position.
The Everest Metro PD serves both the Village and Town of Weston and the City of Schofield. Officials from those municipalities have not commented publicly on the matter.
Additionally, Wisconsin Court Access indicates that a former officer with the police department, John Rusinek, has filed charges against EMPD. The filings were initiated on September 8th. No upcoming court dates have been scheduled, and it remains unclear if the charges are connected to the complaint against Schulz.
