MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Lincoln County woman has been handed a deferred entry of judgment for one felony count of possession of methamphetamine.
Montana Phillips pled no contest to the charge on Wednesday. In exchange for the plea two additional counts were dismissed; child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A judge then ordered the deferred entry of judgment for a period of 12 months. The sentence will allow her to complete assessment and training as deemed appropriate to avoid a formal punishment.
Phillips and Dacoda Guite were arrested in July of 2022 after officers performed a well-being check on a one-year-old child. They found various drug paraphernalia in the home including plastic baggies that tested positive for meth and glass pipes and bongs near the child’s training toilet. Both were arrested, and the child was turned over to a responsible party.
Phillips later admitted to using drugs such as cocaine, adding that she would brush the remnants onto the floor.
Guite is also facing charges related to the incident including neglecting a child and possession of meth.
