Keyiondra Smith Chamness
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former Wausau-area resident who is facing multiple charges from four open cases will have a four-day jury trial next spring.
Keyiondra Smith-Chamness will face a jury for one count of exposing a child to harmful material from April 23rd through the 25th.
During that same April 23rd-25th window there will be a series of review hearings for three other cases, one of which involves impersonating a firefighter. Those charges stem from an incident in which Smith-Chamness is said to have put on the gear and joined first responders with the Village of Maine at a water rescue. Additionally, firefighters said that he had previously worked his way onto a fire truck as crews were heading to a call, even though he wasn’t a member of the department.
Officials say Smith-Chamness had previously applied to join the Maine Fire Department but was turned down.
Should Smith-Chamness be found guilty of exposing a child to harmful material he could face up to 3.5 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
