MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) – For the second time in just over a month, Marshfield Police Chief Rick Gramza is on voluntary leave.
City Administrator Steve Barg confirms that Assistant Chief Pat Zeps is providing leadership for the Police Department during the Chief’s absence. Barg said he could not comment on why Gramza is once again on a leave of absence, or for how long.
In July an outside agency initiated a criminal investigation involving a decades-old allegation of criminal misconduct involving CGramza. On July 15, Gramza voluntarily placed himself on administrative leave. One week later, on July 21, the City learned from the criminal investigators that the allegation against Gramza was unfounded, and the investigation revealed no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the Chief.
It is unknown if the current leave of absence is related to the earlier case, or if it is a separate matter.
