MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is dropping, as more people return to work after the economic shutdown from earlier this year.
Unemployment for July was 7.0-percent, an improvement from 8.6-percent in June. The state’s Department of Workforce Development estimates that the private sector created 25,000 jobs for the month.
That’s still more than twice as high as a year ago, at 3.4-percent. That’s 216,000 fewer jobs than this time in 2019.
Wisconsin’s job market is better compared to the rest of the nation. The national unemployment rate is 10.2-percent.
