TOWN OF SCHLEY, WI (WSAU) — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office had a run-in last week with a man who was trying to get in the Christmas spirit a little early.
Officers were called to an area near County Rd G and Altenburger Dr where they discovered that a man had gotten his vehicle stuck. Further investigation turned up that the man, 51-year-old Raymond Hanson, was trying to steal a Christmas tree.
Hanson was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for criminal damage to property and four felony counts of bail jumping. Court records show he has numerous other unrelated open cases against him including operating with a revoked license, drug trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia, and concealing stolen property.
Hanson is free on a $500 signature bond and will return to court on November 20 for an adjourned initial appearance. Conditions of his bond include no contact with the High Grounds Christmas tree farm.
