PLAINFIELD, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids man suspected of causing a deadly hit-and-run in Waushara County is being held on $75,000 bond.
Daniel Sawyer, 60, was in court on Monday to face four felonies including reckless homicide, hit-and-run causing death, and recklessly endangering safety. Investigators say he was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck another vehicle near Plainfield last weekend.
The incident killed 67-year-old Deborah J. Peterke of Hancock and injured her passenger, 63-year-old Lynn Olson, who was hospitalized.
Peterke was pronounced dead at the scene. An update on Olseon’s condition has not been given.
Sawyer was later identified as the driver of the second vehicle and arrested. Should he post the $75,000 bond he must maintain absolute sobriety and cannot set foot in a bar or tavern. He will also not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
An initial appearance has been scheduled for December 1st.
