MINOCQUA, WI (WSAU) — Classes were canceled at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua after a threat of violence was posted to Snapchat.
The message contained a gun with the caption “Don’t come to school tomorrow,” according to Police in Woodruff.
Officers made contact with the student who posted the image. The student said they didn’t mean to hurt anyone and didn’t intend to follow through with the treat. A search of the student’s home turned up multiple airsoft and BB guns. No actual firearms were located in the home.
Police have taken the child into custody and are recommending charges of making terrorist threats in the juvenile system.
