KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) — Leaders in Kronenwetter are still awaiting the start date for new Administrator Peter Kampfer.
Interim Administrator Kim Manley’s contract with the village has expired, and some unexpected hiccups have delayed Kampfer’s anticipated arrival. This has left village leaders looking to once again contract with former Plover Administrator Dan Mahoney to fill some gaps.
Village President Chris Voll says if approved Mahoney would serve in a part-time capacity providing email and phone support on some issues. Mahoney is no stranger to the position, having served in a part-time interim capacity earlier this summer while leaders conducted a search for a full-time Administrator that ultimately led them to Kampfer.
Mahoney’s new contract will be discussed during a special Board of Trustees meeting Thursday evening. That meeting also includes a discussion on the proposed 2024 Village budget.

Kampfer’s hire was announced the week of September 11th, with an anticipated start date of mid-October. Voll says they are hoping to have him on the job by the start of the new year.
Kronenwetter has been without a permanent Administrator since the summer of 2022. This 15-month stretch has seen the community go through numerous interim Administrators including Duane Gau, Mahoney, and Manley.
Police Chief Terry McHugh has also spent time handling Administrator duties.

The last full-time Administrator in Kronenwetter was Richard Downey. He parted ways with the Village on July 8th, 2022, for reasons that were never made fully clear. He was hired as an Assistant Administrator in Altoona later that month.
Editors Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the Village would reopen the search for an Administrator. It has been updated with new information, WSAU News regrets the error
