MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — An unconventional treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is being proposed at the Capitol.
A bipartisan group of four lawmakers are seeking co-sponsors for a plan to create a psilocybin pilot program through the Universities of Wisconsin for veterans diagnosed with PTSD.
According to the sponsorship memo, psilocybin – commonly referred to as “magic mushrooms” – has shown immense promise in providing relief to those suffering from various mental health conditions, including PTSD.
Active members of law enforcement would not be eligible.
According to the lawmakers, Texas, Washington and Maryland have passed similar bills.
