WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – In an attempt to determine who leaked the Covenant School shooter’s manifesto, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) stated last Friday that they had “exhausted all available investigative avenues.”
The Daily Caller reported that MNPD Chief John Drake said that no “current MNPD employees, or employees of any partner agency” had been named as a result of the inquiry into who leaked three pages of the manifesto of elementary school shooter Audrey Hale.
“The investigation has not identified current MNPD employees, or employees of any partner agency, as engaging in the unauthorized release of the images,” per the press statement. “Persons placed on administrative assignment for certain periods during the pendency of the investigation have returned to their regular duties.”
The Daily Caller also reported that authorities did, however, look at two investigators working for the Specialized Investigations Division and an unnamed “former employee.” The former employee declined to be interviewed by the department.
“A number of individuals were interviewed, cooperatively, and electronic devices were forensically examined, as part of the investigation. Attempts were made last month to interview a former MNPD detective who possessed the images as part of his official duties,” the press release continued.
In November, three papers written by the shooter, Hale, who killed six people in March, including three nine-year-old classmates, were obtained by conservative commentator Steven Crowder. Chief Drake of MNPPD confirmed the pages’ validity while denouncing their “unauthorized release” and promising to “identify the person responsible.”
