MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A Republican authored bill to eliminate the Wisconsin Elections Commission and give the office of Secretary of State elections oversight is opposed by state Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu.
“I don’t think some of those statewide offices should be that partisan frankly,” said LeMahieu. “And putting elections under that position would make that a highly partisan position, so I don’t think it’s the best move.”
Even if the bill were to pass the Senate and Assembly, Governor Tony Evers has promised to veto it.
