WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Hunter Biden is in Washington, D.C., today in an attempt to defend himself and his father, President Joe Biden, as the House Oversight Committee prepares to begin impeachment proceedings formally against the president.
According to the Post Millennial, speaking outside the Capitol, Hunter Biden said, “Here I am, Mr. Chairman, taking up your offer when you said we can bring these people for depositions or committee hearings, whichever they choose. Well, I’ve chosen; I’m here to testify at a public hearing today to answer any of the committee’s legitimate questions.”
“I’ve made mistakes in my life and wasted opportunities and privileges I was afforded. I’m responsible for that. I’m accountable for that,” he continued.
He later added, “Let me state as clearly as I can: My father was not financially involved in my business,” Hunter Biden said, “not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist.”
Hunter Biden has yet to agree to attend a closed-door meeting with the House Oversight Committee. Depositions of witnesses are only permitted in the presence of the “Committee, Committee staff designated by the Chairman or the ranking minority member, an official reporter, the witness, and the witness’ two designated attorneys,” according to Committee on House Administration guidelines.
The Post Millennial reported back in September, that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer laid out evidence that Hunter Biden had received wire transfers totaling over $250,000 from China in the summer of 2019. The wire transfers listed President Joe Biden’s Delaware home as the beneficiary address. Additionally, a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by America First Legal disclosed back in October that Joe Biden exchanged thousands of emails with businesses and accounts connected to Hunter and Jim Biden while he served as vice president.
