MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Legislation to allow medical use of cannabis has been in the works for months at the Capitol.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu remains cautious.
“I think if it’s done right and if there’s good controls around it so it actually is being prescribed by a doctor probably in like pill form, I think there is a path to potentially getting it done this session,” he said.
The Oostburg Republican says the details of any bill are very important to Senate Republicans. Republican Senator Mary Felzkowski is taking the lead on the issue.
Governor Tony Evers continues to advocate for fully legal, recreational cannabis, similar to what’s allowed in neighboring states.
