WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — No primary is required for Wausau’s School Board election this spring.
Six candidates have completed their paperwork for three open seats in the April election, meaning all six names will go directly to the general election ballot.
All three incumbents; Cody Nikolai, Pat McKee, and Karen Vandenberg, will be running for another term. The candidate pool also includes Jane Rusch, who previously served on the board
District leaders have confirmed that the six candidates are:
- Cody Nikolai
- Patrick McKee
- Sarah Marie Brock
- Jane Rusch
- Fred Tealey
- Karen Vandenberg
The district will conduct a draw next week to determine the order in which the names will appear on the April 2nd ballot.
Had there been seven or more candidates, a primary would have been required to narrow the list to six.
The three candidates who are seated will be taking on several tall tasks as the Wausau School District ponders a reorganization or contraction of its elementary school footprint. They’ll also be tasked with finding a new Superintendent for the district with Keith Hilts set to retire at the end of June.
