WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police have arrested a man in connection with an early-morning shooting incident on the city’s north side.
Police were called to the 600 block of Spring Street at around 3 AM for a report of a 61-year-old man with a single gunshot wound. Investigators say the man was visiting a former girlfriend. When he found out her son was in the home, he chose to leave because he knew his presence would upset him.
The son, identified as 21-year-old Andrew Falkowski, then left the home in a vehicle to find the victim. As the man was walking along 6th street, Falkowski drove by and fired one shot. He then made a U-turn and drove back, firing several more rounds.
The victim was struck in the torso and was able to wake up someone in a nearby house to call for help. As of Thursday afternoon, he is hospitalized in stable condition.
Falkowski was arrested at around 10 AM in the Town of Upham in Langlade County.
More details are expected to be released Friday afternoon following Falkowski’s probable cause hearing at 2:00. He’s currently being held in the Marathon County jail. Wausau Police are recommending charges of first-degree intentional homicide.
