WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man suspected of stabbing a Mosinee Police Officer is being held in the Marathon County Jail while waiting for an initial court appearance.
Jail records show Randy Beardsley is being held on a $100,000 cash bond and is facing a possible charge of attempted homicide by aggravated assault.
Investigators say the 41-year-old was passed out near 7th and Main in Mosinee. A patrol officer was called for a welfare check on the man, who got up and stabbed the officer with an unidentified sharp object.
The officer was able to call for backup, including a K9 unit from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was injured after the K9 was deployed.
Both the officer and suspect were treated and released. Beardsley is expected to make a court appearance on February 13th.
