MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The University of Minnesota blew a 1-0 lead in the third period but managed to net the game-winner in overtime for a 2-1 B1G win on Friday.
Owen Lindmark netted the tying goal early in the third after the two sides played to a scoreless stalemate in the second. Minnesota opened the scoring midway through the first with a goal from Oliver Moore.
Wisconsin outshot Minnesota 41-29 on the night. Badger GK Kyle McClellan made 27 saves in the loss.
Lindmark’s goal helped Wisconsin salvage a point in the standings. The Badgers are currently second in the B1G, Minnesota leapfrogged Notre Dame into 3rd with the win, their first over the Badgers this year.
Wisconsin scored a sweep of the Golden Gophers earlier this year when Minnesota was ranked #1 in the nation.
The border rivals will close out their four-game regular-season series tonight in Madison. Face-off is at 7:00 PM, pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 6:30.
