SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A Central Wisconsin business will be on display this Sunday when the 49ers and Chiefs clash in Super Bowl LVIII.
Merrill Steel provided the twenty-eight thousand tons of steel that makeup Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the host for Sunday’s game.
Merrill Steel production scheduler Jesse Hinner told WAOW TV on Friday that they’re very proud of the 2017 project.
After winning the bid, it involved hundreds of employees working hard to meet strict NFL deadlines over seven months.
“Merrill Steel always had an attitude to never back down from a challenge. Always looking forward to it,” said Hinner. “And this was definitely one of the biggest challenges that came up for us. So we were able to tackle it and our name in the industry was up there as one of the top in the country.”
Merrill Steel also provided elements of US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, which hosted Super Bowl LII. Lambeau Field, Fiserv Forum, and Allianz Field in St. Paul also contain Merill Steel products.
Merrill Steel has two main facilities: one in Schofield, Wisconsin, and one in Missouri.
