MADISON, WI (WSAU) — With one of their best wins of the season, the Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Maryland Terrapins 87-58 to open the Big Ten Tournament.
The key to the Badgers’ win came from their three-point shooting, which was strong in both halves, where they shot 6/12 percent from three in the second half and 16/25 overall from deep. Wisconsin’s passing game was also a feature of their win, scoring 47 points on 18 shots in the first half, with over half of those points coming off an assist.
Wisconsin was led offensively by freshman John Blackwell, who scored 18 points on 4-6 shooting from three and 6-11 total from the field, and by big man Steven Crowl, who scored 17 points after shooting a perfect 3-3 from deep.
The Badgers will move on to the next round of the tournament, where they will face the Northwestern Wildcats on Friday at around 1:30 PM on WSAU.
