WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — An Arpin man being held in the Wood County Jail will face trial for allegations that he solicited another inmate to help him kill some correctional officers.
Court records show Jesse Hansen Schumann will face a 12-person jury on August 6th and 7th for two counts of solicitation of homicide, which could land him more than 30 years in prison as a repeat offender. Investigators say the 33-year-old wanted to kill the officers because they had previously disciplined him for infractions he committed while in jail.
Hansen Schumann’s plan involved jumping the workers while they were standing in a blind spot in the jail’s camera coverage. Witnesses say he had requested help from another inmate, and offered to kill their ex-wife if they did.
Instead, that inmate informed the guards about the alleged plan, saying he wanted nothing to do with it and didn’t want to be blamed if anything did happen.
Court records show numerous other convictions against Hansen Schumann including charges of bail jumping and threatening a law enforcement officer or judge. He’s also facing a disorderly conduct charge filed one year ago.
