GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – A new poll measuring who may replace Republican Mike Gallagher in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional district shows one candidate currently holds a large lead over the field.
According to the latest Cygnal poll, Alex Bruesewitz, CEO of X Strategies, leads with 36 percent, followed by state senator Andrew Jacque with 15 percent, and former state senator Roger Roth with 12 percent.
In addition, the poll revealed that 64% of respondents preferred an outsider in politics over a professional politician, which would help Bruesewitz, who has never held public office.
“Mike Gallagher betrayed the Republican Party and the American people with his vote to side with Mayorkas. And I think that issue alone could help somebody win an election, whether it’s me or somebody else that wants to challenge him,” Bruesewitz said following Rep. Gallagher’s decision to vote against impeaching DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Bruesewitz continued his comments during an interview with the Post Millennial, but this time taking aim at challenger Roger Roth, saying, “It’s evident that the people of Wisconsin are sick of career politicians like Mike Gallagher; that’s why his hand-picked replacement, Roger Roth, is getting absolutely crushed. The great patriots of WI-8 will send a strong, pro-Trump conservative to Washington as their next Representative.”
Gallagher sent out a statement earlier this month announcing his resignation from Congress effective April 19, and former President Trump will visit the 8th Congressional District next Tuesday when he holds a rally at the Hyatt Regency in Green Bay.
