WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Crews from Wisconsin Public Service are responding to multiple power outages in Central Wisconsin.
According to the outage alert map customers from near Wausau to Stevens Point and Waupaca are being impacted.
As of 7:15 PM, none of the outages were impacting more than a few dozen customers.
During its peak, the outage in Stevens Point impacted nearly 1,800 customers. WPS crews blamed it on wet, heavy snow taking down power lines. No polling places were affected according to the city clerk.
WPS crews are in for a busy night with the potential for more outages as temperatures drop and wet snow turns to ice on power lines.
