WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A popular central Wisconsin race track will be closing after this upcoming racing season after the Wimmer family told drivers and teams that they will no longer be running the track past this season.
According to a Facebook post, the Speedway stated, “While this track and racing have always been incredibly important to Ron and Scott Wimmer and their families, it is time to end their chapter at the track. That being said, we are committed to making this the best year yet at State Park Speedway!”
Ron and Scott Wimmer purchased State Park Speedway in 2009, and the 2010 season was the first under their management. Over the last 14 years, the track has hosted hundreds of drivers and thousands of fans.
The Wimmer family said they’re excited to celebrate State Park Speedway with everyone and bid goodbye to the fans throughout this season and they appreciate everyone for their support over the years.
