MADISON, WI (WSAU) – One of the Wisconsin Badgers’ top young quarterbacks has entered the NCAA transfer portal after one season with the program.
According to a post on X, former four-star quarterback Nick Evers will be leaving the program with three years of eligibility left to find a starting opportunity elsewhere. The Badgers are expected to start former Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke in 2024, and former three-star commit Braeden Locke is expected to be his backup.

Evers was a 4-star recruit out of Flower Mound High School (TX), ranking as the No. 137 overall talent and No. 8 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. He originally committed to Florida out of high school before transferring to Oklahoma, where he made just one appearance for the Sooners in a 49-0 blowout loss to Texas in 2022.
Evers was expected to battle with true freshman four-star commit Mabrey Mettauer to be the team’s third-string quarterback but will instead be the second quarterback to transfer out of Wisconsin this year after Myles Burkett transferred to the University of Albany in January.
