MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are set to call up one of their top prospects as the team looks to add some offense after recent struggles at the plate.
The Brewers are anticipated to activate infield prospect Tyler Black on Tuesday, according to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, since starting pitcher Wade Miley is expected to be placed on the 60-day disabled list and miss the remainder of the season due to Tommy John surgery.

The Brewers chose 23-year-old Black with the 33rd overall pick in the 2021 MLB draft. After recovering from his 2022 injuries that kept him out for most of the season, he was back on the field in 2023, playing in 123 games at Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. Throughout the year, he struck out 17.9% of the time while smashing 18 homers. Black has seen a jump in batting average in 2024 .303, which is a decent improvement from hitting .284 in 2023.
As of right now, Baseball America has Black ranked as their #73 prospect in the minor leagues, while Keith Law of The Athletic ranked him at #44 and ESPN at #51.
